Crew Cacophony

22nd April, 2008

The Bridge Opens

Hello Portland ! The crew of ‘2041’ just arrived into Portland today. We have seen so much in the past 3 days, that the entire crew wanted say “hello” at once, because we miss you out there. Therefore, we are doing a blog experiment. Each of us wrote a sentence to create a patchwork blog. Hold onto your warm weather hats!

“You know you are out for an adventure when the northwest’s springtime weather turns to snow and flake by flake it melts its way down your face mask and through your Gore-Tex gloves.”

  • Hannah (Cook)

“Boats, you know you are on one when the trusty auto pilot fails as you enter your first big snow flurry and you have to hand steer in 20 knot winds and 30 degree air and snow. It’s the little things that count in life.”

  • Mark(Captain)

“It was a full moon last night and I awoke to a hailstorm, got frostbite while steering, saw a sea lion eat a seagull, and spotted a pair of nesting bald eagles on the banks of the Columbia River . Awesome!!!”

  • Maura (Communications)

“One cold day rolls into another as I wear all the clothes I own and some, still not enough to steer in an ice storm by moonlight while sensible people sleep. Not even my Vegemite is spreadable. Bring on the tropics and bare flesh in the sun…soon.”

  • Brent (Mate/Engineer)

“While sailing to Portland slow

An awesome crew I got to know

Suffering through the rain and snow

Soon to a new pub I go.”

  • Jake (Deckhand)

Have a great night Portland.

Cheers,

  • The entire ’2041′ crew
